Lucile DROUET is an artist, craftsperson and textile designer.
Through her studio, Loxiale, she creates unique, supple fabrics and works that showcase the sculptural qualities of these materials. She has chosen to use traditional techniques to meet contemporary needs (hand-operated looms, bespoke natural dyes). Her commitment to the ecological transition is rooted in the sustainable transformation of materials that have a positive impact.
Using innovative materials such as cork, apple leather and even bran, she creates highly refined, bespoke fabrics.
These fabrics speak their own language, creating a holistic sensory experience of textile vibration.
Inspired by nature and a connection with the environment, Lucile DROUET works as a researcher and explorer to bring vibration, rhythm and movement to life in textiles.
‘What I love is that the materials I produce resonate with the creativity of a project.’
A background in art, architecture, textiles, fashion, clothing and design anchors Lucile DROUET’s textile vision in a resolutely interdisciplinary expression.
Cork, the workshop’s signature material, embodies the link between clothing and the home that stems from wood; it speaks to the architecture of textiles and the sculptural quality of a fabric. The projects form part of research guided by the premise that ‘textile’ and ‘text’ share the same root. The journey towards meaningful beauty is marked by the constant refinement of the precise gesture that reveals the coherence between appearance and structure.
By continually deepening this connection with raw materials, Lucile DROUET collaborates with researchers, botanists, organisations, industries and associations to ensure the long-term sustainability of the raw materials used by the studio, and to forge a path towards encountering the living beings that produce them: trees
